Truthfully, auto accidents can happen on any stretch of road. Yet there are certain roads and highways that have developed a reputation for being especially hazardous. Following are some of the most dangerous roads in Ohio:
- Interstate 70: Interstate 70 is a road that is vital to the State’s commerce. The highway passes through Preble, Montgomery, Clark, Madison, Franklin, Fairfield, Licking, Muskingum, Guernsey and Belmont County. On May 2, 2013, a man was hit and killed by a tractor-trailer on I-70 when he swerved to avoid a reckless driver who changed lanes abruptly.
- Interstate 71: This interstate highway travels through parts of the Great Lakes/Midwestern and Southeastern region of the country. This vast roadway has seen numerous accidents, injuries and fatalities since it was created in the 1950s. Most recently, on April 22, 2013 an Ohio Department of Transportation worker lost his life on I-71 when a semi truck crashed into the backhoe he was operating.
- Interstate 76: I-76 travels into Ohio from the east. This strip of roadway is the location of many horrific accidents in the state, including one that occurred on April 6th, 2013 and claimed the lives of two children. The collision occurred at 8am in Milton Township. The mother and driver of the two children lost control of her Trailblazer. The SUV flipped and was then struck by a semi truck.
